Wild Wonders of Europe partners with Gitzo
To reveal Europe’s amazing natural treasures to the World
Bassano del Grappa, May 5th 2009 – 66 of Europe’s best nature photographers on 112 missions in 48 countries in Europe, arranging the best Wild Show ever seen: this is what Wild Wonders of Europe is all about.
Gitzo, world leader in design and manufacture of professional tripods, wants to support the mission of Wild Wonders of Europe, together with other important brands like Nikon, Epson and National Geographic.
Wild Wonders of Europe is about revealing the amazing natural treasures of our continent to 700 million Europeans, and to the World. It is also about the joy of wildness, reminding us all about why nature matters in our lives, and more important, why we need to protect it.
An almost epic quest, that started in May 2008. And with books and outdoor exhibitions touring around Europe with start 2010. A unique initiative, and a team of dedicated partners, like Gitzo and some of the best media in the world, creating the best wild show ever seen, with the help of the emotional power of great photography and a grand mission.
Gitzo has provided a number of the photographers with some of the best possible equipment for their different assignments: from tripods and ball heads to apparel. Among them Staffan Widstrand, award-winning photographer, writer and MD of Wild Wonders of Europe. Other supported photographers are from Italy, Sweden, Russia, Norway, Hungary, Spain, UK, Holland, France, Poland and Germany.
Each photographer has his/her own assignment in documenting the Wild Wonders: from the classical Umbria Olive Trees, or the Danube delta, to the unexpected “city wildlife” of Berlin and the Vatican City.
The output of the project will be hundreds of thousands of books published in most of Europe’s languages, large National Geographic coverage of the project, and the greatest ever outdoor exhibition tour in Europe.
A full section in the new Gitzo Web Site will be dedicated to the initiative and wide coverage of the photographers and their missions. Wild Wonders of Europe in fact will be an opportunity to prove Gitzo’s extreme sensibility to the environment and nature.
“Gitzo is proud to support the hard work of Wild Wonders photographers - states Luca Alessandrini, Gitzo Brand Manager – who through their photography help people being more aware of the crucial importance of biodiversity by safeguarding the environmental heritage. And in these times of global information, photography is still the best way to touch people conscience and to create awareness.”
